Danza Descalza\u2019s primary objective is to work towards the democratization of dance by introducing it to different types of audiences and offering shows accessible to all. Based in Montreal, the collective is active both locally and internationally. <\/span><\/p>\n Created in 2014, the Danza Descalza collective offers unique performances and workshops, a bridge between innovation and tradition. The organization offers weekly workshops for adults in Montreal, creative projects in schools and personalized workshops. In 2017 the collective created the show <\/span>AKO<\/span><\/i>, a work specially designed for public spaces. Trained in contemporary dance with a background in classical ballet, she later developed an interest in Afro-Colombian dance. She made several trips to Colombia, where she produced her piece Mange Racine (choreographer\/performer) and toured with the Gypsy Kumbia Orchestra, a group she had been part of for 5 years. In 2014, she co-founded the Collectif Danza Descalza for which she teaches, performs and does cultural mediation, notably with the piece AKO and IMPULSO, the collective’s latest creation. At the same time, she trained in clowning and physical theater. She is a tireless creator of performances and collaborations combining dance, music, video and photography, presented in Canada, France, Germany and Colombia.
